TEST STARS!!!
STEVE COLSON
I Joined TEST Sports Club about 2 years ago, and I am as excited to go to Test to work out as I was when I started. What attracted me to TEST Sports Club was the State of the Art equipment, however what keeps me at TEST is the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. They are amazing. I am in the best shape of my life and I thank TEST Sports for that. I recommend TEST to anyone in any shape that wants to increase strength, stamina, and overall health. TEST is a great place.
MARY FLECK
I was an educator for 33 years, and retired August 31, 2007 which was my last day at school. My first 22 years was in Special Education, and I've worked in a variety of places. I started as a special education teacher, worked for the Department of Education for a few years, worked on a child study team as a learning consultant, and served as director of special services. While completing my doctoral program at Columbia University, I used this experience to build a bridge into elementary education. I worked for five years in Basking Ridge first as assistant principal at Cedar Hill School, then as principal at Oak Street School. I then spent the next six years as principal of Franklin School in Westfield, the place from which I retired in 2007. For these 33 years, I worked hard, played only a little, and exercised hardly at all.
In September 2007, my first stop (after a brief vacation) was to TEST. Since I had never been involved in any kind of exercise program, I was intimidated and unsure of myself, yet I realized that as I was getting older, at least part of my time needed to be devoted to assuring my continuing health and fitness. Everything was daunting - the machines, the weights, even the fieldhouse - and I had no idea where to start.
At TEST, I felt immediately welcomed, warmly encouraged and carefully guided into feeling at home and engaging in a balanced fitness program. For me, this includes taking advantage of Pilates and other classes, working with Laurel, my personal trainer, and using the machines and weights on my own. I've made a commitment to myself to get to the club at least 3 or 4 times per week, and more often if I can. To my surprise and delight, I love it - and I've finally convinced my husband George to join also. If I can do it, truly anyone can do it!
My thanks to everyone at TEST for being so supportive, and to my many new workout friends whom I encounter on a regular basis. I am inspired by your dedication!

I have been with TEST since it opened in Martinsville - 1999. In that time, I've lost weight, gained strength, flexibility, balance and made many friends. The owners( bless Kevin and Brian), my trainers (Kevin, Stevie B. and Ivona), and the personnel (all the people who smile back at me), are knowledgeable and excellent teachers. The last nine years have been mind-bending, rewarding and always productive. TEST is like my "Cheers"- everyone knows my name - and greets me warmly. I am president of my own company, SIMULATIONS, a Douglass/Rutgers grad with an NYU Masters Degree, a supportive, wife, mom, and "grammie". My interests are varied: certified Hypnotist and Reiki Master, practice Tai Chi, Qui Gong, traveling, reading and searching for a doctoral program and/or interesting ways to be of service in the next part of my life. My family also enjoys the gym in so many ways, aerobics, buddy training, group training, speed and agility classes, football
training; we all "make it work". Can one be too healthy, fit, trim, respected and in harmony with one's body (I take Yoga as well)? Can one have too much fun? We'll see….
GAIL ALTIERE
I’ve been with TEST Sports Club since they opened their doors in the “little gym on the corner, in 1999. Each weekday morning I walked 3 miles a day with a friend, then headed to the gym for a workout. Walking is my first love, weight training is a necessity.
I was heading towards osteoporosis, and walking wasn’t enough. I had to find a way to turn this condition around, so I started with a trainer 3 times a week. In the 9 years that I’ve been at Test, my bone density test is now normal and that’s quite a feat. Thanks to all the great trainers at Test, and to Brian and Kevin, I am still enjoying my morning workouts.

As I was getting older, I felt like it. I realized I needed to do something to improve my physical fitness, but never had the self initiative or motivation to begin. Three years ago, Bill Ard invited me to TEST to check it out. I joined and have been regularly attending since. I work with a trainer three times a week, and love it. The training staff at TEST are great. They motivate you and keep you challenged. Since joining, my overall physical fitness has improved dramatically. My stamina, core strength, and endurance have all improved. I feel great thanks to TEST !

In 12 seconds, Flacco stirs excitement, apprehension and pride
Peter Schmuck
September 8, 2008

Keep in mind that Joe Flacco was barely two hours into his regular- season NFL debut when he broke away on a quarterback keeper, dodged a couple of Cincinnati Bengals and fought his way into the Ravens'
record book.
His 38-yard touchdown run was the longest by a quarterback in team history, and it turned a solid individual performance into a dynamic statement by a young man from a Rodney Dangerfield university who was never supposed to be in this situation.
They say that all's well that ends well, but during the 12seconds that ran off the clock from snap to touchdown celebrations, there were a lot of people feeling a lot of different things.
Excitement?
Obviously. The sellout crowd of 70,978 went absolutely bananas as Flacco peeled off the right side and sprinted down the sideline. You could make the case that a star was born at that very moment.
Wonderment?
That, too. There were several Ravens players on the field who didn't really grasp what was happening.
"I didn't even know Joe had the ball," wide receiver Mark Clayton said. "I saw Joe shoot past, and I'm saying, 'What the heck is going on?'"
Apprehension?
Well, nobody likes to admit to having any negative thoughts, but Flacco was naked out there, and it's not like the Ravens were exactly knee-deep in well-prepared quarterbacks. There were a few people holding their breath.
"I thought he was supposed to hand it off to somebody," center Jason Brown said. "I didn't know it was Flacco, that he was going to keep the ball, and the whole time I was thinking, 'Please, if somebody's about to run and hit you, just slide.' But the kid, he has so much heart, I knew that he wasn't going to do that. He had his eyes dead set on the end zone. He was going to get in there no matter what."
Surprise?
The most surprised guy in the house was Flacco, who acknowledged that he never imagined that there would be so much light at the end of that particular tunnel.
"I started running, and I was thinking 'First down, first down,'" he said. "I got to the first-down point and I look and, 'Oh, God, there's nobody here!'"
Pride?
Coach John Harbaugh laughed about how easy it was to see the whole play ("He's so darned tall"), but what he enjoyed the most was seeing Flacco read the defense, diagnose that the Bengals had the handoff stacked up and make the split-second decision to keep the ball.
"The more impressive part about it was that he made the adjustment on the play," Harbaugh said. "You know Jason [Brown] said he expected a back to have the ball. That's because they ran a certain blitz and the play we had called was dead, and [Flacco] kept the ball and took around the back side on his own. That's something [offensive coordinator Cam Cameron] teaches, and [Flacco] works on it and he saw it. It was really more of a mental play than it was a physical one."
Wide receiver Derrick Mason watched in amazement and had only one thought.
"Score! If you can, score!" he said. "That's what Joe did. He played football. That's all you can ask a quarterback to do."
Nobody is anointing the kid as the next Tom Brady yet. It was just one game against a team that obviously has a lot of work to do to be competitive in the AFC North, but it was the kind of solid debut that builds confidence inside a young player and engenders it from his teammates.
"This was a beginning for Joe," Harbaugh said. "We talked about it before the game. This is going to be a beginning. This is going to be a jumping-off point. Now we've got an idea of where he's at and what he needs to do is get better. He played well, but he needs to take this week to next week and make the most improvement, maybe that he will ever make in his career. That should be his goal."
